On Monday 17 October an In Bloom meeting was held in the Village Hall when Jean Neve announced that Winterton Village was awarded overall Gold in the Great Yarmouth in Bloom awards. Carmel and Mick Shiggins also received Gold for their floral presentation whilst Jed and Joyce Pitchford received Silver Gilt. Well done to everybody for all their hard work in making Winterton on Sea 'A Place to be Proud of''. 





On Friday 3rd October the Great Yarmouth and Gorleston In Bloom Awards was held at St Georges Theatre and a lovely evening and a good time was had by all. Winterton on Sea Awards were: Best Small Village - Gold. Window boxes and hanging baskets - Carmel and Mick Shiggins Gold. also Joyce and Jed Pitchford - Silver Gilt. Small front garden - Jean Neve Silver Gilt. Congratulations to those achievements and many thanks to all members and friends for their hard work throughout the year. We are blessed with many beautiful residential gardens and this all helps to make our village beautiful and 'A Place to be Proud of'.

Quiz Night

Lifeboat Restoration Group

We are hosting an Open Day at The Old Rectory on Easter Saturday 15 April 10am to 3.30 pm now that the Edward Birkbeck is safely installed in her Boat Shelter and we’re ready to get the restoration work underway.  Pop in to see the 120 year old Lifeboat, find out the latest news, sign up as a Volunteer, buy a raffle ticket to win a framed print by Norfolk-born artist Mick Bensley of the Cromer Lifeboat Louisa Heartwell with famous Coxswain Henry Blogg.  PLUS reserve your place now for the Edward Birkbeck Winterton Walk - a leisurely stroll around the village exploring the past, especially its maritime heritage, with a light-hearted mardle about the folk who lived here and their lives.  A 1-1½ hour circular guided walk leaving the Boat Shelter at 2pm.  Adults £5. Children £7-15 years. £2.50 (under 7’s and dogs free).  Sorry, route not suitable for wheelchairs. Tel 01493 393344 to reserve your place and pay on the day.  All proceeds to Winterton on Sea Lifeboat Restoration Fund. Mencap will also be hosting an Easter Fayre to raise money for their Sensory Garden between 1pm and 3.30 pm with refreshments, games, cakes, bric-a-brac and raffle. 



                                                                                                                                      British Legion bingo in the Village Hall on the first Saturday of each month 1.30pm for 2.00pm all welcome. Come and support a good cause and enjoy yourself at the same time.


Literary Lunch 21 April Gt Witchingham Village hall £25 Julie Summers novel "Jambusters" High Tea followed by a jig-saw Race 15 May £7.50 each Evelyn Suffield House. Barbara is going to have a Coffee Morning in June for fund raising please come and support, date will be advised later. Treasurer and Secretary desperately needed for Committee please think about it. Why not come along and see what we do, we are a friendly bunch and you will be most welcome. Snettisham 21 June £18 start 10am.

Prayer and Praise

TS Fearless – 901 Troop


Open to Boys and Girls aged 11 upwards. They meet on Mondays at Caister High School and Fridays at Winterton Village Hall between 6.45pm and 9.30pm. Contact 01493 748395 for more information.

Bowls Club

The new season starts in April. New members are always very welcome regardless of experience. Following the success of our Open Day last year, we are having an Open Day April 22 at 2pm. Contact Diane 393965

There will be Mobile Library visit on Friday April 7 and every 4 weeks. The Library arrives at the following points at the times shown:
Bush Road 10.55am – 11.10am. George Beck Road 11.15am – 11.30am. Hill View Drive 11.35am – 11.55am. Market Place 1.05pm – 2.20pm. Parish Church 2.25pm – 3.15pm. Note the change of days and times.









901 Troop Marine Cadets 
'In recognition of the eminent and valuable services rendered to the people of Great Yarmouth over a period of 11 years' are the words to describe 901 Troop Marine Cadets - TS Fearless when they received The Honorary Freedom of the Borough at a presentation on Friday November 2nd 2014 at The Minster Church of Saint Nicholas Great Yarmouth. In attendance was Her Worship the Mayor Councillor Colleen Walker, Borough Councillors and Civic Dignitaries. At the conclusion of the ceremony the Marine Cadets Band and Marine Troops along with Civic Dignitaries marched through the Market Place to the Town Hall for the Reception. At the ceremony the Royal British Legion - Great Yarmouth Branch were availed with the same Honour. If you are interested in joining contact Paul Dodson on 01493 748395 or visit their website

 We still need more volunteers to help with the various tasks involved in th In Bloom, whether it be gardening, sweeping, weeding, painting or litter picking.  If you are able to help in any way do please contact Jean Neve 01493 393682.

Winterton Primary School Children came out to the Village Green  and planted their plot with the Olympic Rings, Flag and Torch. The Children also assisted in planting the Jubilee Tree kindly donated by a Village Resident.
